Program Director – Chicago Department of Economic Development (1982-1983)
Member of transition team that expanded EDC into new department. Promoted to streamline and direct Chicago’s commercial development programs. Planned/managed 30 streetscape and 600 storefront improvement projects,
and $20 million in CDBG funds. Initiated new district signage and special service area financing programs. Liaison to other City agencies, local officials and community/business groups.

City Planner – Chicago Economic Development Commission (1981-1982)
Planned industrial parks/renewal areas. Coordinated studies of Port District and brewery redevelopment. Assisted businesses with site/area development. Marketed EDC programs to business groups and worked closely with Chicago Police Department.

Project Coordinator – Columbia County, Wisconsin (1979-1980)
Developed waste management plan for large rural county addressing environmental and engineering issues. Assessed refuse-derived fuel, coal plant retrofit and regional approach. Plan included innovative recycling system. Liaison to local officials and state agency.

Planner – Des Plaines, Illinois (1977-1978)
Updated comprehensive plan and downtown study for suburb of 60,000 adjacent O’Hare Airport. Processed zoning/subdivision applications from builders and developers.
